April 25th to 28th, 2011 saw the southeast region hit with what has now been entitled the Super Outbreak. During the 3 day period, the region encountered 363 tornados--fifteen of which were rated EF4. 348 people were killed, another 2,717 were injured and over $10.8 billion in property damage. Within hours of the event’s conclusion, ACG pulled in all available personnel and dispatched seven outfitted response squads to the hardest hit areas of GA and AL. Working sixteen hour days for seven days a week, ACG crews worked tirelessly in conjunction with FEMA and Southern Company, removing downed transformers throughout the region in support of re-establishing power to the devastated areas.
